The Festival of Sant'Antioco
The island of Sant’Antioco has celebrated Saint Antioco, martyr, protector and patron Saint of Sardinia, for over 500 years. The whole island turns out to celebrate with a spectacular festival. Dressed in traditional costume, people parade behind the Saint through the heavily scented flower petal strewn streets. Horses can also be seen in the traditional ‘Traccas’ manner. The Festival of Sant’ Antioco is celebrated three times a year: 15 days after Easter, the 1 August and the 13 November. |
