Archaeology
The ancient Nuraghe (pre historic stone settlements) are custodians of our history, silent witnesses, perched on the hill tops gazing across the horizon. The “l’isola di Solky”has for centuries been a star attraction in Mediterranean, and was settled by the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians and the Romans, all leaving their mark. Of particular interest are the ‘Tophet Fenicio’, the Archaeology museum, the Catacombs, the Castle, Forte Su Pisu and a Ipogeo (cave dwelling) village which was inhabited until the 1980’s. There are also important Nuraghic remains such as the Grutt’Acqua, Corongiu Murvonis, Le Tombe dei Giganti and Le Domus De Janas. |
